Our Story

Masala-Maste All 🙏🏽

“The story of Blend & Spice did become official on July 4th 2020, but it was the year of 1912 when it was first blended by our great grandfather, Mangaldas Gandhi. It’s not just any chai masala, it’s an emotion that was passed down generations.” – Nishil Gandhi.

It was this emotion that sparked the idea of a dream that is slowly becoming a reality for us and without further ado we would like to introduce you to our founders - Nishil, a Product Owner at a healthcare corporation during the day who believes in transforming the health of the community, one person at a time and an amazing chef + a masala connoisseur by night. Disha, on the other hand, a Pharmacist (PharmD) during the day who believes in taking care of her patients with love and affection and a social worker at night working with non-profits. There is a sweet poem that Disha & Nishil share that quite literally summarizes the passion & vision for B&S. The title of the poem is, “હીંચકો, ચા અને સાથ,” which roughly translates to “Swing, Chai & Togetherness.”

Nishil & Disha became Mr & Mrs. Gandhi just few months before the pandemic began, Jan 2, 2020. It was around this time when the idea turned into what we now know as Blend & Spice. The story began from a small town in India where this chai masala was first introduced. From that small town in India to California, our founders are proud to represent the cup of chai that unites us all. It is this vision that has been bestowed upon us here at B&S and we hope to take this dream and carry forward the legacy of our ancestral roots.
